Here in France mask wearing has been compulsory for secondary school kids since September. With a new lockdown recently coming into play, that rule has been extended to primary school kids so that all from the age of 6 are required to wear them. They're expected to wear one in the morning and one in the afternoon and can only take them off to eat and when doing sport.
Our boys have coped extremely well with this. It really has become their new normal. So much so that Reuben often forgets to take his off when I pick him up from the school bus. When the new rule came in for Jacob to wear them as well I got to my sewing machine to make him a batch, and I felt compelled to make one for each child in his class too. I think I thought that if I made similar ones for his friends too it might make the whole experience a little bit easier for them all.
After posting them onto Facebook the local bakery owner ordered some for her daughter and said I could stock them in the boulangerie which is great! It's so important to me that they're comfortable for kids as this year has been tough on them enough. You can also find them stocked in my Etsy shop here.
